This handmade copper wall plate by El-Shami of Egypt shows the scene "Arriving at the Mosque." It is etched and hand-painted in shades of copper, brass, green, red and blue. Robed figures gather at a mosque entrance with striped stonework, hanging lamps and Arabic calligraphy, and a border of etched arabesque motifs frames the scene. It measures about 12 inches across and has a hanging bracket on the back, so it's ready to display as Middle Eastern wall decor.
CONDITION: Pre-owned – Good - Light scratching throughout (per lister) - Scratches and flecks of painted color worn away, showing copper underneath, mostly on dark brown stonework and door areas - Back has scratches, uneven patina/oxidation, and residue spots near the lower edge
